5 BRANDS REBELLING FOR AN EQUAL SOCIETY
We’re entering a new age of consumer consciousness where activism is at the top of the agenda and brands taking a stand is no longer an option, but a necessity. Today’s travellers want to know you have a purpose behind what you do.
At LE Miami, we’re all about championing causes and encouraging rebellious brands to speak out and take action the things that matter most – to them and their guests. Here’s how some of our Collective are pursuing their purpose and stepping up the fight for a truly equal society.
I REBEL FOR AN EQUAL SOCIETY
CAUSE: Championing the LGBTQ community
As well as being the first hotel company to score a perfect 100% on the HRC Corporate Equality index, Kimpton are also the Premier National Hotel Partner for The Trevor Project – a crisis and suicide prevention lifeline for at-risk LGBTQ youth. They’re all about dispelling judgement and effecting real, positive change.
REBEL: Eaton Hotels
CAUSE: Spreading the activist zeitgeist
Alongside co-working spaces and a members’ club, this mould-breaking hotel also houses a lecture theatre to host events and speakers – from creative visionaries to non-profit activists. It’s a centre geared towards social change, inspired by younger generations but for anyone interested in learning how to give back.
CAUSE: Fighting back against HIV/AIDS
AIDS is the leading cause of death among young women worldwide, with the virus still ripping through disadvantaged communities in Africa, so Andaz teamed up with HIV/AIDS charity (RED) to create (ANDAZ)RED experiences in their properties across the world. When guests choose to purchase one of these dedicated products, 30% of profits go towards (RED)’s inspiring crusade to support vulnerable girls fighting the disease.
REBEL: 11 Howard
CAUSE: Combatting poverty around the world
Taking their ‘conscious hospitality’ vibes to a new level, 11 Howard have partnered with the Global Poverty Project and Feed – two awesome organisations catalysing the movement to end extreme poverty in their own ways. The boutique brand also works with Groundswell to create collaborative public arts projects in their local communities.
REBEL: W Hotels
CAUSE: Furthering the fight for equality
This fashion-first boutique brand give a megaphone to inspiring voices and create new platforms for activists with their ‘Loud and Proud’ events and collaborations. ‘What She Said’ and ‘Queer Me Out’ are provocative, unfiltered speaker series designed to celebrate, educate and inspire.
Are you ready to join the rebels reshaping your industry? To take risks? To be inspired by something provocative? Then it’s time to be part of the movement built on breaking convention; on inspiring connections, causes and creativity.
The future of contemporary travel belongs to those who dare to be different.
